Last year at Coverings 2025 in Orlando, attendees first stepped into the world of Interconnected Changeable Environments, the Showhome Experience by Jennifer Farrell — a visionary exploration of how design, materiality, and innovation shape the way we live.

Now, as the journey continues beyond the show floor, we’re taking a closer look at the spaces where daily life unfolds most intimately: the kitchens and baths.

Across three distinct yet connected environments, Farrell has designed four kitchens and eight bathrooms — each one a reflection of how modern living can be both beautiful and deeply functional. These are not simply utilitarian spaces; they are sculptural environments where ritual, gathering, and restoration take center stage.

Four Kitchens, Four Expressions of Living

Designing multiple kitchens across a single property becomes a study in variation and rhythm. Each space shares a common design language — layered materials, refined detailing, and thoughtful proportion — yet each is tailored to a different way of living.

In Center House, the Entertainer’s Kitchen is bold and theatrical, designed for hosting and connection, anchored by the iconic La Cornue Château Range, a true functional work of art. Nearby, a more intimate working kitchen offers warmth and ease for everyday cooking.

In Extension House, the kitchen takes on a quieter, more serene presence. Clean lines and restrained palettes allow texture and light to lead, while performance-driven surfaces like Silestone and Dekton by Cosentino deliver both durability and refined beauty.

Indy House presents a different challenge — a flexible, micro-home environment where the kitchen must maximize efficiency without sacrificing elegance. Here, thoughtful layout and material choices demonstrate how even compact spaces can feel expansive and intentional.

Across all four kitchens, details elevate the experience. Leather-wrapped cabinet pulls from Signature Hardware introduce a tactile sense of craftsmanship, while sculptural lighting from Kalco and refined architectural elements like Corston switches and sockets bring quiet sophistication to everyday interactions.

Eight Bathrooms Designed as Personal Sanctuaries

If kitchens are the social heart of the home, bathrooms are its most personal spaces. Across the showhome experience, Farrell approaches each of the eight bathrooms as its own sanctuary — a place to slow down, reset, and reconnect.

Materiality plays a defining role in shaping mood. In the Center House primary suite, soft sage and cream tones from Emser Tile’s Metamor collection create a calming, spa-like atmosphere. Elsewhere, deeper hues, sculptural forms, and dimensional surfaces introduce a more dramatic, modern edge.

Tile and stone set the emotional tone before any fixture is touched — matte finishes offering serenity, while reflective surfaces add energy and movement. Across the spaces, Metamor and Eclissi collections from Emser Tile allow for subtle shifts in light, texture, and shadow, creating layered, immersive environments.

Fixtures bring both beauty and performance to these rooms. GROHE fittings, including the striking Hard Graphite finish, elevate daily rituals with refined engineering and elegant form. Duravit vanities and bath fixtures add sculptural presence, balancing aesthetic impact with thoughtful functionality.

Behind the scenes, Litokol grout and installation systems, provided by Tile Doctor, ensure that each surface performs with long-term durability — a critical consideration in spaces designed to evolve over decades.

Where Beauty Meets Performance

Throughout the kitchens and baths, one philosophy remains constant: beauty and performance are inseparable.

In a home designed for longevity, materials must do more than look beautiful — they must endure. Surfaces are selected to age gracefully, fixtures are chosen for consistent performance, and layouts are designed to support how people truly live.

This approach defines the idea of the “forever home of the future” — spaces that are not only visually compelling, but resilient, adaptable, and deeply human.

A Cohesive Story Across Every Space

With so many kitchens and baths across the property, cohesion is key. Farrell achieves this through recurring materials, tonal palettes, and architectural details that create a sense of continuity without repetition.

Stone, tile, and warm metals appear throughout the environments, each interpreted in a way that feels unique to the space while remaining part of a larger design narrative. The result is a seamless flow from one environment to the next — like chapters in the same story.

Continuing the Journey

The kitchens and baths of Interconnected Changeable Environments reveal something essential about the future of design: that the most meaningful spaces are those that support daily life with intention, beauty, and care.

As this journey continues, we’ll keep exploring the materials, craftsmanship, and innovation shaping each environment — extending the inspiration of Coverings far beyond the show floor and into the homes of tomorrow.
