2024 CID Award Winner Spotlight: Residential Ceramic Tile Installation: Honorable Mention

Potomac, MD Luxury Home 4

At Coverings 2024, we honored 21 outstanding projects that demonstrated spectacular craftsmanship and creativity in the use of tile and stone. This week we’re spotlighting the 2024 CID Award winner for Commercial Ceramic Tile Installation: Honorable Mention.

Project: Potomac, MD Luxury Home
Installer: Custom Concepts by Greenwalt
Location: Potomac, Maryland, USA

The budget for tile and stone was more than $200,000. Many customizations were created for this design including a custom-made (fabricated) medallion in the foyer. A heated floor in the kitchen and master suite bath were installed.

The master bath suite had over 2,600sq/ft of large format polished porcelain, and the shower bench was a fluted porcelain tile with miters on all sides to make the esthetic design pleasing to look at as well as functional.

The master bath suite was two tones of tile to give everything from the floor to the ceiling a custom unique look. There was also a custom jacuzzi deck integrated with solid surface and custom lighting.

The goal for the layout was for the entire design to flow, as well as set up staging for the job ahead of time so other tradesmen could also continue their work seamlessly. A combination of traditional techniques and new laser technology were employed to ensure lines are square, plumb, and flat. Tools included bridge saws and wet saws equipped with premium Italian blades.
