The evolution of the Coverings logo over the years!
In some ways it’s hard to imagine that Coverings will have been bringing the tile and stone industry together for 25 years this April. As we reflect on those years, the incredible evolution that the show and the industry have undergone since Coverings 1990 in Anaheim is striking.
Tile consumption in the United States has grown exponentially in the 25 years of Coverings, with consumption topping out at 3.3 billion square feet per year in 2006 compared to 944 million in the late 80s. Coverings has been instrumental in facilitating that growth, allowing distributors to meet their suppliers at one time in the same place.
The show has grown in size and scope in correlation with the industry. We have 20,000 attendees expected in 2014 compared to the few hundred that attended that first year in Anaheim. We have developed an expansive education program and now consistently attract distinguished speakers. Coverings has become The Ultimate Tile + Stone Experience, not only bringing the entire industry together but also educating the world on the importance of our craft.
In the months leading up to Coverings 2014 in Las Vegas we will be celebrating the last 25 years of the show, showcasing the evolving tile trends and innovations over the years, interviewing long time exhibitors, managers, and attendees, and looking back at the many American cities that have hosted us.
