It’s that time of the year again! The 2016 Coverings Installation & Design (CID) Awards are officially open for submissions! Sponsored by TileLetter and Contemporary Stone & Tile Design, we’re looking for projects that showcase exceptionally creative designs and demonstrate technical mastery in the use of tile and stone across residential, commercial, international and sustainable applications. The free submission process is open to architects, designers, builders, contractors, distributors, retailers, installers and other professionals who embody excellence in design and installation skills. Professionals are encouraged to submit multiple projects – show us what you’ve got!
New to the CID Awards program for 2016 is the “Scouting Shot” category, which offers outstanding projects with amateur photography the opportunity to be professionally photographed. The winning project in this category will receive a complimentary professional photo shoot prior to the show, and have their photos on display during the Opening Night Celebration.
All winning projects will be honored on Monday, April 18 at the CID Awards & Opening Night Celebration. Installers and designers of the Grand Prize winning projects will each receive $2,000 and a one-night hotel stay in Chicago. Additional cash prizes will be rewarded.
Looking for some inspiration? Here are some of our favorite projects from last year’s CID Award Winners:
Grand Prize: Tile Project
Hilton Hawaiian Village Rainbow Tower
Designed by: PROCON Consulting Architects, Inc.
Installed by: GSI Global Stone, Inc.
Talk about wow-worthy. This noted Hawaiian landmark and 30-story tower is covered by the world’s tallest tile mosaic mural. We love how the bright, fun colors compliment the natural environment of the island this project calls home.
Winner: Residential Stone Installation
Installed by: Rockford Tile Contractors
There’s nothing more eye-catching than a seamless stone installation. From grand entryways to luxurious bathrooms, this home is flush with beautifully installed marble.
Winner: Sustainable Tile Design
Lakes Regional Healthcare Phase II – Surgery & Birth Centers
Designed by: RDG Planning & Design
This environmentally savvy design is sleek, modern, and warm. We love the mix of natural materials throughout the space, and the large windows that allow for plenty of natural light.
